Lexington Medical Cancer Center Affiliates with MUSC Hollings Cancer Center for Research and Education

Lexington Medical Center is pleased to announce Lexington Medical Cancer Center’s Clinical Research and Education affiliation with MUSC Hollings Cancer Center in Charleston, SC.  This partnership will provide Lexington Medical Center patients access to MUSC’s National Cancer Institute-designated clinical trials and continue to ensure they receive high quality and comprehensive cancer services.  

Through this affiliation, Lexington Medical Cancer Center will work collaboratively with MUSC to advance the expertise of clinical staff and offer the latest in cancer treatment research.  Specifically, the affiliation with MUSC Hollings Cancer Center will allow Lexington Medical Center’s patients access to more than 200 clinical trials, providing patients in the Midlands a wide range of the most promising cancer treatments currently available in the nation.  

“As the Midlands’ only hospital providing comprehensive cancer care, we are excited about the benefits our affiliation with MUSC Hollings Cancer Center brings to our patients. Having access to their National Cancer Institute-designated clinical trials and research expertise will allow our patients to receive the latest, most innovative treatment while staying here in their community,” says Quillin Davis, MD, medical director of cancer services at Lexington Medical Center.

MUSC Hollings Cancer Center is home to more than 120 scientists conducting research and collaborating on better ways to prevent, detect, diagnose, and treat this complex disease.  As one of 71 National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers, Hollings continues to attract top cancer researchers from leading institutions across the country who conduct research in the community, laboratory, and clinic.  

Lexington Medical Cancer Center is widely recognized for the highest quality of care, to include designations as a Cancer Center of Excellence by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, a Breast Center of Excellence by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence and a Lung Cancer Screening Center by the American College of Radiology.
