Lexington Medical Center is accepting applications for its 2021 Partners Program – a summer internship designed for high school students who are interested in careers in health care. This summer’s program is open to high school students in Lexington and Richland counties.

Participants will complete two rotations through a variety of clinical areas and learn about careers including radiologic technologist, physical therapist, surgical technologist, nursing, administration and more.

To qualify, students must live and attend school in Lexington or Richland County, be a rising high school junior or senior at the time of their application submission, have at least a 2.5 GPA based on a 4.0 scale and demonstrate sincere interest in a health care field.

To apply, visit LexMed.com, search for “Summer Health Careers Work Study” and fill out the application online. Email questions to partners@lexhealth.org. The deadline to apply is March 19, 2021.

There will be two sessions: July 5 – 16, 2021 and July 19 – 30, 2021. Students will observe the day-to-day operations of the hospital through clinical rotations, interactive workshops and field trips. Core hours are 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Partners are required to provide their own transportation to and from Lexington Medical Center.

Because the Partners Program is very competitive, students must commit to attending the entire two weeks. Exceptions will not be made for travel or other summer activities.

Participating seniors will be eligible to apply for a $1,000 scholarship during the program.

The Partners Program has been a popular part of Lexington Medical Center for more than 20 years. It’s made possible through the Lexington Medical Center Foundation.
