Lexington Medical Center Welcomes Brian Smith as New Human Resources VP

Lexington Medical Center is pleased to welcome Brian D. Smith as its new vice president of Human Resources. In this role, Mr. Smith will oversee areas including employment, benefits, compensation, staff development, employee health and volunteers for the hospital.

Mr. Smith has more than 20 years of experience in health care. He comes to Lexington Medical Center from Rex Healthcare, Inc. in Raleigh, North Carolina. There, he held several important positions including system executive director – Total Rewards & Systems, director of Human Resources, director of Laboratory Services and nursing home administrator. Additionally, he has been an adjunct faculty member for training nursing home administrators with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Public Health.
 
Mr. Smith earned his undergraduate degree and a Master of Healthcare Administration with a concentration in finance from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

It will be an honor to be a part of it,” Mr. Smith said. “My family and I are also excited about joining the Lexington County community.”
 
During his time in North Carolina, Mr. Smith received honors including a “40 Under 40” designation in the Triangle Business Journal and he was a member of the Leadership Raleigh class.

Mr. Smith and his wife Amy have two children. In his spare time, Mr. Smith enjoys boating and watching college sports.
