Lexington Medical Center Welcomes Stacey Newsom, MD, MPH, to Occupational Health
Lexington Medical Center is proud to welcome Stacey Newsom, MD, MPH, into the hospital’s network of care. Dr. Newsom has joined Alice Barker, MD, Dana Rawl, MD, and Will Floyd, MD as a practicing physician at Occupational Health, a Lexington Medical Center physician practice.
“I’m very excited to join this outstanding organization as they expand their occupational medicine services to meet the needs of the Midlands’ employers and workforce,” said Dr. Newsom.
Dr. Newsom graduated from the University of Miami School of Medicine and completed her occupational and environmental medicine residency at the University of Washington School of Public Health and Community Medicine. Dr. Newsom also completed a post-graduate master’s degree in public health. She has been a member of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine since 2002.
Dr. Newsom will provide health care services ranging from pre-placement assessments to comprehensive treatment of workers’ compensation injuries. With the addition of Dr. Newsom, Lexington Medical Center is now home to the only occupational health program in South Carolina with four physicians who are board certified in occupational medicine.
Dr. Newsom’s professional background includes ten years of expertise as a board certified occupational medicine physician, caring for diverse industries. She has experience in medical directorship duties, policy and procedure development, OSHA mandated medical surveillance and medical evaluation and treatment of work related injuries and illnesses. Dr. Newsom is committed to building strong relationships with injured employees, employer and nurse case managers in order to provide quality treatment, promote healing, and prevent lost time and disability.
Occupational Health is located at 300 West Dunbar in West Columbia. The hospital looks forward to the completion of a new occupational health facility in Cayce.
