Lexington Medical Center is monitoring the developing swine flu situation closely. Our hospital has plans in place for a number of emergencies including a flu outbreak and we are ready to put those plans into practice, if needed.
We are making sure we have enough supplies and medicine to treat patients who may come to our facilities with swine flu. In addition, we are following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control for diagnosis and treatment of the virus.
Meantime, we continue to educate the public about ways to prevent swine flu: Wash your hands frequently, cover your cough by coughing into your sleeve and stay home if you have flu symptoms.
Dr. Todd Crump, emergency medicine physician at Lexington Medical Center, appeared on WIS-TV on Tuesday, April 28 to talk about swine flu. The first clip is from WIS-TV’s 7 o’ clock report.
