Having A Baby on "Labor Day"

Sep. 7 2020

So far on this Labor Day, Lexington Medical Center has welcomed six bundles of joy inside Labor and Delivery at the hospital.

Emma Faith Martinez came into the world at 9:03 a.m. weighing 7 lbs, 2 oz, and measuring 19 inches long. Baby Emma is the third child of Jasmine and Jose Martinez of Gaston. She joins big brother Jiovani, 7, and big sister Camila Grace, 16 months.

"Emma is a very calm and beautiful baby girl," Jasmine said.

Labor Day Weekend has always had special meaning to Jose and Jasmine. They met at a church retreat on Labor Day Weekend ten years ago.

"I joked that Jasmine was going to have this baby on Labor Day," Jose said. "And she did."

Janice L. Bacon, MD, of Lexington Women's Care West Columbia delivered the baby.

Congratulations to the whole family!
