Lexington Surgery Combines Expertise of Three Physician Practices

The board-certified physicians and highly skilled staff at Lexington Surgical Associates, Riverside Surgical Group and Southern Surgical Group have joined Lexington Surgery, the newest physician practice in the Lexington Medical Center Network of Care. Specializing in general and minimally invasive surgical procedures, these surgeons have decades of experience providing patients with comprehensive, continuous care from consultation through recovery.

“Historically, there have been three surgical groups providing care to the patients of Lexington Medical Center. Combining the leading experts in surgical management enhances our ability to provide more specialized care to the patients of our community,” said Jeffrey S. Libbey, MD, FACS. “By working together, we have a better opportunity to provide more expedient access to surgical care. I am excited for our new future as it allows for a collaborative approach toward patient care.”

Blending the three general surgery practices supports the hospital’s Physician Network in maximizing its resources and consolidating provider expertise to achieve a higher level of care for surgical patients. Lexington Surgery will continue the seamless referral process that is currently in place. The practice encourages providers to request the specific surgeon who will best meet their individual patient’s needs in a timely manner.

“By merging surgical groups, we will be able to improve care by enhancing disease-specific services through increased interdisciplinary coordination,” said Marc C. Antonetti, MD, FACS.

Those disease-specific services include surgical treatment of colorectal disease, thoracic conditions, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and hernia and gallbladder issues. Lexington Surgery also provides surgical oncology care for patients with breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, colon cancer, lung cancer and melanoma.

“Lexington Surgery establishes the largest general surgery practice in the Midlands, giving Lexington Medical Center patients and providers more access to the highest quality of surgical care available,” said Roland R. Craft III, MD, FACS.
