Know Your Numbers

February is Heart Month.  Each day, we’re posting information to help your heart be healthy. 

When it comes to numbers, we all know our phone number, shoe size and home address.  But when it comes to heart health, we need to know some other numbers, too.

Your goals should be:

Blood pressure:  120/80

Total cholesterol:  Less than 200

LDL cholesterol:  Less than 130 or less than 100 if you have other risk factors

HDL cholesterol:  Greater than 60

Triglycerides:  Less than 150

BMI:  Less than 25

Minutes of daily exercise:  At least 30 minutes

Cigarettes per day:  Zero
