Sleep Talking: "Sleep Solutions" Receives National Accreditation

Lexington Medical Center’s Sleep Solutions has received national accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).

“We are pleased that Lexington Medical Center physicians and patients have the opportunity to use the services of our new nationally accredited sleep center,” said Michelle Brooks, Registered Polysomnograhic Technologist and Sleep Solutions coordinator. “Our accreditation acknowledges that we deliver the highest standards of care and service, for which we are very proud.”

Michelle Brooks is featured in an article about how to sleep well in The State newspaper.

Sleep Solutions provides comprehensive care for a full range of sleep disorders. Phyisicans and technical staff evaluate, treat and provide follow-up care for such sleep-related disorders as hypersomnia, insomnia, narcolepsy, periodic limb movement disorder, restless leg syndrome, sleep apnea and snoring.

To receive a five-year accreditation from the AASM, a sleep center must meet or exceed all standards for professional health care as designated by the AASM. The accreditation process involves detailed inspection of a center’s facility and staff, including an evaluation of testing procedures, patient contacts and physician training. Additionally, the facility’s goals must be clearly stated and include plans for positively affecting the quality of medical care in the community it serves.

Lexington Medical Center’s Sleep Solutions is located at 109 West Hospital Drive, West Columbia. For more information, visit www.lexmed.com.
