Advances in Surgical Management of Thyroid Disease

Lexington Medical Center is pleased to present a physician lecture called “Advances in Surgical Management of Thyroid Disease” on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. inside the Lexington Medical Park 1 Auditorium on the hospital campus. The speaker is Melanie Seybt, MD, a physician with Lexington ENT & Allergy, a Lexington Medical Center physician practice.

Seybt_MelanieDuring the lecture, Dr. Seybt will talk about the anatomy and function of the thyroid, the prevalence of thyroid cancer, and minimally invasive surgical techniques used to treat thyroid disease. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served and attendees will have the opportunity to ask the doctor questions.

A cum laude graduate of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., Dr. Seybt earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. After completing her otolaryngology/head and neck surgery residency and serving as chief resident at MCG, she became one of the few surgeons to complete specialized fellowship training in endocrine head and neck surgery. Dr. Seybt also traveled to Italy and Korea to further develop her expertise in minimally invasive and remote-access thyroid surgery. Additionally, she has co-authored a book, “Thyroid Surgery: Preventing and Managing Complications.”
