The one-day trip to Washington, D.C. is designed to recognize war veterans for their service. In the nation’s capital, the veterans tour the World War II Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, and Iwo Jima Memorial. They also take a driving tour of Washington D.C. In the afternoon, the veterans are special guests at Arlington National Cemetery as they observe the Changing of The Guard ceremony at the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier.
“Lexington Medical Center and its board of directors wanted to take the opportunity to highlight one of our most valuable community assets – our service men and women,” said Barbara Willm, Lexington Medical Center’s Vice President of Community Relations. “They have been called our national treasure and we are privileged to honor them.”
