The event will take place on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center from 6:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. Tickets are $75 per person. Dress is University of South Carolina casual. Proceeds from the evening benefit the Lexington Medical Center Foundation’s Cancer Care Fund.
Keynote speaker Chad Holbrook became USC’s baseball coach in 2012. Holbrook has been with the USC baseball program since July of 2008. During his time as Associate Head Coach, South Carolina won back-to-back national championships in 2010 and 2011 and finished as the national runner-up in 2012. In 2011, ESPN the Magazine named Holbrook the 10th best recruiter in all of college athletics. After the 2011 season, the ABCA and Baseball America named Holbrook Assistant Coach of the Year.
During his 16 years as head coach of the University of South Carolina baseball team, Ray Tanner established a premier program, including the back-to-back 2010 and 2011 national championships. His record as USC baseball coach was 738-316. In 2012, Ray Tanner became the University of South Carolina’s Athletics Director.
June Raines became the University of South Carolina’s baseball coach in 1977. At USC, he had a record of 763 victories, 380 losses and 2 ties. He took USC to the College World Series four times with appearances in 1977, 1981, 1982 and 1985.
There will also be a special video appearance by Bobby Richardson, who was the head coach of the USC baseball team from 1970 to 1976. Richardson led the Gamecocks to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 1974. Richardson left South Carolina after the 1976 season, finishing with a 220-91-2 record and three NCAA Tournament appearances including a National Runner-Up finish in the 1975 College World Series.
