Earth Day Diet
For more than 40 years, Americans have celebrated Earth Day on April 22nd in efforts to promote a cleaner, more healthful environment for current and future generations. The Campaign for Earth Day 2011 – A Billion Acts of Green®: Personal, organizational and corporate pledges to live and act sustainably.
Locally let’s do our part and try a few acts ourselves.
Eat locally. Buying foods grown close to home reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Shop at your local farmers market, road side stands on your way home or grocery stores that support and offer locally grown produce.
Eat fewer processed foods. Buy fresh ingredients and cook from scratch. It uses less packaging to reduce land fill space. Also, less pollution and energy to process and transport the process foods.
Eat organic. Select USDA certified organic foods to reduce pollution in the air, soil and water by reduced use of pesticides.
